Our Impact: October 2015

This is the story of how we made a difference in October 2015.

Watch the video to discover how what we did this month had an impact on you.

This month our key achievements included:

·      HullSTARS (Hull Student Accommodation Rating System) held a Halloween themed Review week, which gathered over 600 housing reviews from students, ensuring that future house hunters have all the information that they need to find their perfect home.

·      On the theme of finding your perfect home, Vice-President Welfare & Community Ashleigh launched the first phase of her Housing Campaign – No Rush. It focused on students not rushing into a decision about where to live next year, the team visited the Lawns to share information and house hunting do’s and don’t with first year students.

At this visit we received worrying reports about this text and phone calls to students from a company called ‘Student Accommodation Union’.  Watch Ashleigh tackle the misleading advertising from his company  who are not affiliated with the Students’ Union here.

·      We celebrated 10,000 Facebook likes, with our ‘YAY for 10K’ video. Our dancing teams clocked up over 6000 views, sharing our excitement with our online audience. Watch it here.

·      Vice-President Education Matt worked with staff to create the Student Written Submission. This vital report is presented to the University each year and brings together data from the Education survey and feedback from course, faculty and department reps to improve education at the University of Hull. In the past this has contributed to everything from the library redevelopment to personalised timetables and the replacement of e-bridge.
